Our "Sanctuary Along the Coast" project, designed in response to the recent natural disaster in Japan, was commissioned by X-Knowledge Home No. 15 for their "Idea Donation" issue, edited by Hironori Watanabe and Akiko Shimizu. If you read Japanese, it's a beautiful publication with some great projects, and part of the proceeds from this issue are to be donated to the Japan earthquake and tsunami relief fund.

“Air Rights of Way,” our proposal for the future of architecture and transportation in Manhattan, will be on view as part of Project New York at Nolita’s Openhouse Gallery next week. The exhibit, which is organized by Architizer and in conjunction with the Audi Urban Future Initiative curated by Stylepark, is part of the New Museum’s Festival of Ideas for the New City. Come see our drawings and a (really) large scale urban model, and enjoy the larger festival!

Greenhouse Project

We are pleased to have been chosen by designNYC to team up with NY Sun Works & Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation! With our non-profit partners, we will be working to design a series of greenhouses and a larger framework of urban farming to be used on unused lots in Cypress Hills East Brooklyn. The network of farms will provide fresh, organic, locally grown produce to the community, as well as access to innovative scientific and agricultural education, and on-site job training in urban agriculture, hydroponic, and greenhouse construction.

12 Alumni: Architecture Change Globality

Our work is part of the inaugural alumni exhibition at Columbia University, now on display. The exhibition, titled “12 Alumni: Architecture Change Globality,” focuses on the theme of building sustainability and responsibility in addressing ideas like global sourcing of materials. Key to this is invention in design as a direct response to changing economies and ecologies. The exhibition will be on display through June 2009 at the Tunnel Gallery in Altschul Hall, Columbia University, New York

Housing for Artists-in-Residence on a farm in the Catskills combines simple technologies and local materials with the high-performance fabrics and structures of tent making. A form designed to nest, the habitations can be agglomerated or dispersed depending on climate or desired conditions.
